Gin

Gin is certainly a very popular drink at the moment. Consequently we stock a substantial range of over 30 different gins with excellent choice of flavours. We are delighted to stock eight different locally produced gins, which feature at the top of the list below. They include in no special order:

Tom Cat Dry Sussex Gin. Tom Cat Dry Sussex Gin began in November 2016 and is distilled in small batches by our award winning distiller. It combines six aromatic botanicals to create a fine smooth gin with juniper at its heart. It is a unique bright crisp gin beautifully balanced with a lingering finish of orange. Its distinctive flavour is further enhanced with locally grown coriander. Pure Sussex mineral water from 120ft deep Pear Tree Well in Palehouse Common is added to the distillate to create the final product. The water, bottled at source, is rich in minerals giving Tom Cat Dry Sussex Gin a rounder fuller flavour. It is a quintessential English Gin infused with six botanicals which can be complemented with a premium tonic, ice, orange peel and a sprig of rosemary or simply just on the rocks.

Tom Cat Cloudy Mango Gin was launched at the end of 2017, "a taste of the exotic". Serve on the rocks, or with a premium tonic, fresh mint and a couple of blueberries maybe.

Both Tom Cat gins are available in 70cl and 20cl bottles. The original and mango are available as a 5cl miniature.
"Cabin Pressure Spirits are a husband and wife team based in Horsham, West Sussex.
Thinking there must be a way to produce a more flavoursome gin, David set about experimenting in the garden shed. A year later, it turned out he was right! The couple rapidly up-scaled production and are busy sharing the results with gin lovers across the region."
Cabin Pressure use vacuum distilling instead of the traditional still which concentrates the flavours. Available in 70cl and 10cl minis.
Brilliant London Dry Gin also comes from near Chichester. It's a delicately flavoured artisan spirit, crafted in small batches, creating a complex but balanced and clean taste. Brilliant neat but also good with a quality tonic.
Greensand Ridge Distillery is slightly over the border in Kent but is still local to us. It is a premium small batch gin; hand crafted using carefully selected botanicals from beneath the Greensand Ridge of Kent within a mile of the distillery.
Brighton Gin is the taste and colour of Brighton - Brighton is the Pavilion, the Pier and the Duke of York's. It's the Prince Regent, Laurence Olivier and Max Miller. It's Phoebe Hessel, Mrs Fitzherbert and Martha Gunn. It's Brighton & Hove (actually), Mods & Rockers and the Seagulls. It's the Veteran Car Run, the London to Brighton and Brighton Races. It's the Downs, the sea and Brighton Rock. It's Pride, naughty weekends, illicit pleasures. Available in 70cl, 35cl and 5cl miniatures
Foxhole Gin is produced locally at Bolney Wine Estate from waste grape material. The bottles are hand numbered and have a unique glass closure. "Velvet- textured with floral coriander and orris flavours, balanced with grapefruit and lemon zests. Perfected with a long finish of subtle bitter orange notes."
Chilgrove gin. From Chilgrove, near Chichester. Handcrafted using traditional methods and distilled with natural mineral water filtered through the very chalk Downs which surround Chilgrove; this fine London Dry Gin marries only the finest botanicals together with a neutral spirit distilled from grapes. It is this unusual relationship which gives Chilgrove Gin its sophisticated character, whilst the perfectly balanced elect of flavours, truly make it the gin for all seasons.

Chilgrove have also launched a new gin - their Bluewater Edition which combines indigenous English and Australian botanicals. Distilled with 100% grape alcohol and mineral water from the South Downs it "marries distinctive Australian flavours with quintessentially English ingredients".
Ninkasi now stock a range of Whitley Neill gins including; the Original Small Batch in 70cl and 20cl, Raspberry Gin, Blood Orange Gin, and Rhubarb & Ginger Gin (which is also available as a 5cl miniature).

"Only the purest water is used and each of the nine botanicals are carefully selected to ensure that they are of the highest quality. Whitley Neill's tagline of "Made in England and Inspired by Africa" goes a long way in describing what those botanicals might be.
Bringing together a mix of innovative botanicals like cape gooseberries and baobab fruit to its lineup, it also has other more traditional botanicals such as juniper, coriander, lemon & orange peel, angelica root, cassia bark and orris root."
The Botanist - Foraged Island botanicals - the first and only Islay gin, distilled and hand crafted at the Bruichladdich Distillery.
Martin Miller's is a premium gin made from 9 carefully selected botanicals blended with the purest Icelandic water, "the ultimate in good taste".
Bobby's Schiedam Jenever (Netherlands)
Bobby's Schiedam Gin. Bobby's is a unique blend of Indonesian spice and traditional botanicals. Spicy and fragrant on the nose, a fresh burst of citrus and herbs at first sip and with a slight hum of pepper.
Sipsmith's Original London Dry Gin is "the quintessential expression of a classic, traditional London Dry Gin. Bold, complex and aromatic - smooth enough for a Martini, yet rich and balanced, perfect for a G&T." Available in 70cl and 35cl bottles.
The V.J.O.P or Very Junipery Over Proof. "Imagine the botanicals as components in an orchestra, here we have taken the lead instrument, juniper, and amplified its presence in the ensemble, then raised the decibels by increasing the proof alcohol. The result is our very own symphony in 'J' major." Available in 70cl bottles.
New release is a Lemon Drizzle Gin. "This recipe takes a classic London Dry backbone and layers on sweet, sun-dried lemon peels, lemon verbena from Jared's garden for aromatic sweetness on the nose and vapour infused fresh hand peeled lemon for sharp bite and floral notes to dial up the spritz" Available in 50cl bottles.
We also occasionally stock Sipsmith's Sloe Gin "First, we distill our award-winning London Dry Gin on our copper stills. Then we leave it to rest on wild sloe berries, picked in the autumn. The result is a truly handmade sloe gin that is subtle, complex and bursting with flavour." 50cl bottle.
